Helene Cronin (USA)

Performing writers rounds
Show: Saturday, Sunday

Texas artist, Helene Cronin, describes herself as a story-singer. She shares her life through songs that resonate with emotional truth, inviting her listeners to relate them to their own lives. For her cultivating that connection is supremely important.

A 2018 New Folk Winner at the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival, Helene considers her style a merger between the raw roots of Americana and the polished song-craft of Nashville’s Country. She writes with honesty and vulnerability, posessing a voice as much a character as the ones that inhabit her songs.

Traveling often to Nashville, Helene is well-connected in that songwriting community, writing for and with other artists. She has her first major label cut coming in 2024 when Cody Johnson will release his recording of her song “Over Missing You”. She also has cuts with rising star Bryan Martin, most recently the title cut of his record POETS AND OLD SOULS. She’s had songs recorded by Heidi Newfield, Janelle Arthur and The Isaacs, The Young Fables, and many others.

As an artist, Helene continues to record her own projects, in fact she is currently in the studio working on her 3rd full-length record, slated for October ’24. In 2023, she released LANDMARKS, the much anticipated follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut, OLD GHOSTS & LOST CAUSES. A Christmas project, BEAUTIFUL DECEMBER, also was released in 2023. Her most well-known song “Lucky Me” has led to an appearance on national TV (the Mike Huckabee show) and  countless military events, including some honoring our nation’s Medal of Honor recipients.

“Her vivid lyrical abilities are without question. She’s like Leonard Cohen – (She) writes with a good editing pen and produces tight, original tales, then adds an invigorating melody.” – John Apice, Americana Highways magazine

– “There’s some of Gretchen Peters’ darkness and incisive poetry in Helene Cronin’s terrific debut. Cronin is a wordsmith who pulls no punches. Some songs may make you uncomfortable but leave you marveling at her songwriting just the same.” – Jim Hynes, Elmore magazine.

Helene hosts shows at Nashville’s famed Bluebird Cafe and performs in a variety of settings from house concerts to festivals. Audiences are drawn to her intimate, personal performances, saying, “Your songs make me want to be a better person.” Helene can’t think of a better reason to keep writing and singing!
