Performing writers rounds with Ariel Posen
Show: Saturday
Kajsa Vala has released 3 solid Americana albums and is last year’s winner of the Nashville Nights International Songwriters Festival songwriting award.
With an Icelandic mother and a Danish father, Kajsa Vala’s music has its roots planted in the Nordic soil. However, she has lived in Nashville on several occasions to dive deep into the craft of songwriting, and this has shaped her own take on the American music tradition. Kajsa has created a sound all her own.
If you were to place her in the land of references, she falls somewhere between Alison Krauss, Gillian Welch and Cat Power. Kajsa Vala fearlessly expands the Americana tradition with hints of pop.
Kajsa Vala is an excellent lyricist, a sensuous vocalist and a female guitarist who masters her instrument, from acoustic and dobro to a strong, heavy electric guitar.
